I asked ChatGPT to:

“Write a rap song in the spirit of 36Mafia, UGK, Pimp C (RIP), paul wall, houston & texas, gangsters, thug, trill, wood grain, fo-fo’s, slabs. banging bass, more hoes and stack in cash money off drug deals. Shout out to lil wayne and RIP dirty south chopped & screwed.”

This query was a request for me to generate a rap song that was inspired by various elements of the southern rap scene, including specific artists and groups like 36Mafia, UGK, and Pimp C, as well as themes and slang terms like gangsters, thug, trill, and wood grain. The query also included references to specific elements of southern rap culture, such as fo-fo’s, slabs, and the dirty south, and requested that the song pay tribute to Lil Wayne and incorporate elements of chopped and screwed production.

Overall, the query was a broad and somewhat disjointed request for a rap song that would capture the spirit of southern rap and pay homage to its key figures and themes. My response attempted to incorporate as many of these elements as possible in order to create a song that would be true to the spirit of the query.

I also asked ChatGPT to define the parameters I’d given it so I could judge the accuracy and it came up with these definitions as operative terms:

36Mafia: A hip hop group from Tennessee that has been influential in shaping the sound of southern rap.

UGK: A hip hop group from Texas that has had a major impact on the southern rap scene.

Pimp C (RIP): Chad Butler, a rapper and producer who was a member of UGK. He passed away in 2007, but his legacy lives on through his music and the influence he had on the southern rap scene.

Paul Wall: A rapper from Houston, Texas who is known for his association with the southern rap scene and his love for "wood grain" car rims.

Trill: A term often used in southern rap to describe someone who is true and real, and has become a popular slang term in the region.

Fo-fo's: A reference to guns, specifically semi-automatic weapons. The term is often used in rap lyrics to describe the weapons that a rapper or their crew carries for protection.

Slabs: A reference to custom cars, specifically ones that have been lowered to the ground and have large rims. They are often associated with the southern rap scene and are often mentioned in rap lyrics.

Dirty South: A term often used to describe the southern rap scene, particularly in states like Texas and Tennessee.

Chopped and screwed: A style of music production that originated in the south and involves slowing down the tempo and adding effects to the music. It has become a popular subgenre of rap music

Purple drank: Also known as lean or sizzurp, a codeine-infused beverage that has been referenced in countless rap songs and has become a symbol of the southern rap lifestyle.

Sipping: To drink slowly or in small amounts.

Wood grain: A reference to custom car rims that have a wood grain finish.

Choppin blades: A reference to the use of knives or swords as weapons.

TikTok: A social media platform that allows users to create and share short video content.

Dall-E: A large language model trained by OpenAI that is capable of generating images from text descriptions.

AmperMusic: A music generation tool that uses AI to create original scores based on user input.

Video editing software: A program or application that allows users to edit and manipulate video content, including cutting and splicing footage, adding transitions and effects, and more

Based on these terms ChatGPT spit this game at me as far as lyrics:

I’m The Chat O.G. PT,
the king of the dirty south
I’m living the life,
I ain’t living in doubt

I’m stacking cash,
I’m living to thrill
I’m sipping on that drank,
I’m feeling ill

I’m living that 36Mafia, UGK life
I’m all about my money and my hoes,
I’m living trill I’m a gangster, a thug,
I’m on top of the game

I got my wood grain,
I’m stacking cash,
I’m a money girl

I’m paying homage to Pimp C, rest in peace
I’m living my life,
I ain’t living in defeat I’m a dirty south rapper,
I’m rolling with Lil Wayne

I’m chopping and screwing my tracks,
they’re driving me insane
I’m rolling with my crew,
we’re making moves

We’re getting paid,
stacking cash,
we can’t lose
We’re living the life, we’re on top of the world

We’re the ones to beat,
we’re making it rain
I’m sipping on that drank,
I’m feeling right

I’m choppin’ blades,
I’m ready to fight

Heavy bass drops,
the crowd goes wild
I’m The Chat O.G. PT,
I’m bringing the heat,
I’m bringing the style

Heavy bass thumps,
my rhymes are sick
I’m stacking cash,
I’m living trill,
ain’t no one gonna bring me down quick

Heavy bass rumbles,
my flow is tight I’m living the life,
I’m on top of my game,
ain’t no one gonna bring me down tonight

To bring the rap lyrics generated by Chat GPT to life, I decided to use a text-to-speech tool called Murf to vocalize the rapping. Murf is a powerful and user-friendly tool that allows users to transform written text into spoken words with ease. It offers a range of options and settings that allow users to customize the voice and create a unique and authentic sounding performance.

Using Murf was a simple and straightforward process. I simply entered the lyrics into the program and selected the appropriate settings to create the desired effect. I was able to adjust the pitch, tone, and other elements of the voice to create a unique and authentic sounding rap performance.

Overall, using Murf allowed me to take the rap lyrics generated by Chat GPT and bring them to life in a new and exciting way. The text-to-speech tool enabled me to transform the written words into a spoken performance that captured the essence of the southern rap scene and the themes of the lyrics. It was a fun and innovative way to bring the lyrics to life and showcase my creativity as an artist.

In this project, I used Dall-E, a large language model trained by OpenAI, to generate images for use on the cover and in a video for the rap song that I created with Chat GPT. Dall-E is a powerful tool that is capable of generating high-quality images based on text descriptions, and I utilized it to add an extra layer of creativity to my project.

To use Dall-E, I provided a text description of the type of images I wanted to generate, using directives such as "in the style of Salvador Dali on acid and purple drank" to specify the desired aesthetic. Dall-E then used its understanding of language and image generation to produce a range of options for me to choose from.

I was able to review the images generated by Dall-E and select the ones that best fit my vision for the project. The resulting visuals were surreal and psychedelic, with elements of Dali's signature style mixed with references to purple drank and the southern rap lifestyle. I was able to use these images to add an extra layer of visual interest to the project and help bring the lyrics to life in a new and exciting way. Overall, my usage of Dall-E was a key part of the creative process and helped me to achieve my desired artistic vision.
